Real reviews from real customers
We purchased a home in August that had carpet over the original hardwood floors. When we ripped up the carpet the floors were in way worse condition than we had hoped. We found DE Valley Hardwoods in a Google search and requested a quote. Jim called my husband within 10 minutes and the rest is history. Jim and his team were very knowledgeable and did an amazing job on our floors. I would recommend them time and again!
This guy spends more time studying his trade to produce fantastic results and never stop improving than most professional flooring crews will spend refinishing and has been a great asset to others in the industry. Absolutely would recommend.
Before moving into a new house we decided to have Jim and his crew refinish all of our floors on the first level. There was a mix of different types of wood and color so now all the floors have a consistent look. We were first going natural and then decided with a butterscotch stain and the floors look beautiful.
Hands down the BEST in the industry!!! Jim and his team came to our rescue after I choose to go with a less expensive floor re finisher. Jim went out of his way to meet with us in the evening and started our job immediately. Jim was very professional and helpful with his knowledge and passion for hardwood flooring. He took the time to educate us and helped us choose the look we wanted for our home.
We've used Jim and his team twice now in the past 5 years and both times have been impressed with the results and his appreciation for the nuances of an older home. He guided us towards a linseed oil finish which feels super period appropriate and even helped with some color correction once we realized the original color we chose was lighter than anticipated.
I began a major renovation recently that involved removing a load bearing wall, replacing a linoleum floor in the kitchen and refinishing the entire hardwood floor. After meeting with Jim and Andrea I knew I had the right match. Jim and his assistant Lewis did such an incredible job for me. Jim understands how to treat a hardwood floor in a way that brings the natural grain out like no other floors I have ever seen.
Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about hardwood floor refinishing and installation
How long does floor refinishing take?
Typical refinishing projects take 3-5 days depending on square footage and number of coats. This includes sanding, staining (if requested), applying finish coats, and drying time. We'll provide a detailed timeline during your consultation.
Do I need to leave my home during refinishing?
It's not required, but many homeowners choose to stay elsewhere for comfort. While our dustless system minimizes mess, there will be noise and some odor from finishes. You'll need to stay off floors during drying periods (typically 24-48 hours between coats).
How "dustless" is your dustless sanding?
Our professional dust containment systems capture 95-99% of dust at the source. While not 100% dust-free, it's dramatically cleaner than traditional sanding. Most dust is contained in our equipment's filtration system, not your home.
Can all hardwood floors be refinished?
Most solid hardwood floors can be refinished 5-10 times over their lifetime. Engineered hardwood depends on the thickness of the top veneer layer. During our assessment, we'll measure your floor's thickness and let you know if refinishing is viable or if replacement is better.
What's your warranty or guarantee?
We stand behind our craftsmanship with a satisfaction guarantee. Bona products come with manufacturer warranties (varies by product). We'll discuss specific warranty details during your consultation and include them in your contract.
How far in advance should I book?
Because we focus on one project at a time, we typically book 2-4 weeks out, sometimes longer during peak seasons (spring/fall). Contact us early to secure your preferred timeline, especially for larger projects.
